Rules

Just what the internet needs... another torrent tracker.

USERS MUST AGREE WITH ALL RULES (TERMS OF USE) BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH REGISTRATION.

1. All audio must be in either .flac or .shn format. No mp3's will be allowed, except (and ONLY except) in those cases where mp3's are the only circulating format of that music. In such cases, only the original mp3's may be shared, no transcodes or mp3->wav->flac conversions, etc. For information on .flac, please visit http://flac.sourceforge.net/ and for .shn, see http://research.umbc.edu/~hamilton/shnfaq.html . Preferably, tracks should be named (e.g. 01-Destroy Before Reading.flac), but that is not required. Users may also choose to include the date, venue, location information (see #3), but that is optional. Any audio that has been taken from a video is not to be shared, unless the video is uncirculated.

2. All video must be in dvd compliant mpeg-2 format. Preferably, the audio portion should be in LPCM (lossless) but it is understood that some shows may have already been converted with mpeg / dolby digital audio. For shows less than 30 minutes, the uploader does not need to share a fully authored dvd, only the .vob/ mpeg file. Any footage more than 30 minutes in length must be fully authored, but the menus do not have to be anything fancy. If the uploader has encoded the video personally, the video must use the highest possible bitrate (XP mode for stand-alone's or 7000+ bps VBR/ 8000 bps CBR for computer encodes [for videos less than 60 minutes] & FR mode or lower bit rates on computer encodes so that the entire disc space is filled for videos longer than 60 minutes). If the uploader has dual layer capabilities on a stand-alone machine and/or compatible computer encoding software, all videos longer than 60 minutes should continue to use XP mode or 7000-8000 bps to create a dual layer disc. That way, the best quality encode of that show will be preserved and any user who downloads it can either further compress the files to fit on a single layer disc or burn it to dual layer media. If a user does not does not have a dual layer burner, and decides to re-encode a video to fit onto a single layer disc, that user should not further disseminate this re-encoded video into the trading community, as a better quality transfer is available.

3. All torrents must include a md5 signature file (such as md5Summer, http://www.md5summer.org/) or a flac fingerprint file (ffp, http://wiki.etree.org/index.php?page=FlacFingerprint), a text info file that includes all known information about the show (date, venue, location, source recorder/mics, generation, etc.) along with a setlist. Some of the gaps can be filled in using the concert chronology on the website. This info file MUST be named with the bands name (understandable abbreviations are acceptable), date (numeric day, abbreviated month, full year) and preferably location (e.g. tJL-01Jul1989-Chicago-info.txt). This is so there is no confusion about day/month when only numbers are used. If an uploader is sharing a show received on CD-R, please rip the files using Exact Audio Copy (EAC, http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/) and include the log from that extraction in the torrent, so that if anything is wrong with the seed, other users may be able to figure out why. Please name this similar to the info file (e.g. tJL-01Jul19890-Chicago-log.txt). The .torrent file must be named so that the music it shares is readily identifiable (i.e. NO jesuslizard-live.torrent, tJL.torrent, JL-los angeles.torrent, etc.). For simplicity, an uploader may choose to use the same filename as the info file, removing the "-info."

4. DO NOT share live material that has been officially released (so far this is only SHOW- 19 December 1993 CBGB's NYC, NY and LIVE DVD- 04 October 1994 Venus de Milo Boston, MA). An uploader may, however, share any video recording (other than the Glamorous promotional video) and any other audio recording of the SHOW concert that is NOT of the same source as the officially released disc. Additionally, an uploader may also share any audio version of the 04 October 1994 show as long as it was not taken from the video release. The Sho(r)t video may not be shared here, however the live shows from which some footage was taken (13 April 1996 Chicago, IL and 18 May 1996 Hollywood, CA) may be shared. It is allowable to share the full 27 November 1990, 09 May 1992, and 26 September 1992 shows (songs from which were used on LASH and the F&L and giveaway 7"s). The owner and administrators of this site reserve the right to add or change this 'not allowed' shows list at any time.

5. DO NOT share demos/ rarities/ alternate takes that have already been released, even if not included on BANG (e.g. Gladiator/ Boilermaker from the Insipid 7", Whirl from the Volume Five CD and The Test & Anna from BANG). NEVER, EVER share studio albums or released material. If there is enough interest into somehow making these 'rarer' songs available, the owner may attempt to contact the proper folks and see if they are interested in allowing that content to be shared here. It seems that both SHOT and BLUE are out of print. However, this does not make it acceptable to share those albums. The owner and administrators reserve the right to add or change this 'not allowed' songs/ demos list at any time.

6. DO NOT sell anything you get from here. If the owner and administrators find out a member has been selling recordings they received from this site, they will be banned and a pox cast upon them.

7. All users must keep their share ratio (amount uploaded/ amount downloaded) above 0.20. The owner and administrators do not want to have to enfore share ratios considering that many people have dial-up connections, but if a user were to let it fall below that ratio, it becomes apparent that the user is less interested in sharing and more in leeching. The first 10 GB downloaded here are free. After that, the tracker is set up to force users to maintain a 0.20 share ratio. If a user falls below this ratio, the user status will revert to a Low Ratio account. Such users will only be able to share torrents that are already on the tracker, or in the case of an Uploader, those users may also be able to upload new torrents. No Low Ratio user will be able to download ANY further torrents until that user's share ratio increases to 0.50. Depending on how many users the tracker ends up with, any user that does not increase their sharing and revert from Low Ratio to normal status after one month may be removed. Any user to which this happens that attempts to re-join at a later date, will, at the discretion of the site owner and adminstrators, either have their user status returned to a Low Ratio user, or be banned from the site entirely.

8. Wait at least one month, preferably longer, before seeding a show you get from here on another tracker (Dimeadozen, etc.). This is not meant to exclude any other users from the sharing of this material (it is free to register at torrents.thejesuslizard.net) in any way. The more traffic this tracker site receives from fans and traders of tJL and related/ similar bands, the more music for all of us. Though it does go against sharing in general, if an uploader decides to share a show here and explicitly asks it never be shared at another site (exclusive to torrents.thejesuslizard.net), the owner and administrators will honor that request. Users must make sure to place it in the appropriate Exclusive category when announcing the torrent. Any user who is found to be sharing such files on another tracker will be suspended or banned. Any user who is also a member of another tracker site and finds an appropriate torrent shared there may post a message on the forum alerting users to that site. If it is permitted by that site's terms of use, any user may post a direct link to that .torrent file rather than submitting it to the Jesus Lizard tracker. This will lower the load on the torrents.thejesuslizard.net server.

9. A user's personal information volunteered during the registration for this site will NOT be shared, traded or given out for any reason, unless legal circumstances demand it. Any user who has not validated their registration within two weeks will be deleted and must register again and complete the validation process. If a user has registered but did not receive the validation email, the user should check their spam or junk mail folder, as it may have ended up there. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RE-REGISTER. If the validation email cannot be found, return to the tracker and message me, tJLChris. Any user who has been inactive (neither downloading nor uploading any material) in the span of four (4) months and/or who has not visited the site in six (6) months may be deleted after that time.

10. The owner and administrators of this site reserve the right to modify or add any new rules as well as suspend or ban any user at any time for any reason.

On a personal note, I set up this tracker in hopes of getting more people to share shows from the Jesus Lizard and related bands, people that might not want to share shows in a more generalized venue like Dimeadozen or other trackers. This site is in no way to intended to compete with those larger trackers, merely to focus on a more defined segment of music. I would prefer we stick with related bands, but if you've got something you want to share, and don't want to share it anywhere else, please message me and I'll let you know if it's OK to seed. All users start off at the Member level, meaning they can only download and share torrents already on the tracker. If you have something to share (and I hope you do), PM me (tJLChris) on the tracker so I can upgrade you to an Uploader with the rights to create and announce torrents on the tracker. Have fun and enjoy the music.

If, and only if, you agree with these rules and conditions for use, you may proceed with registration by clicking here.
